Description

We-transfer is a free on-line application that allows to share heavy folders (up to 2GB) to one or more recipients without using a regular email system. The sender uploads all files into the applications that sends an email with a link to the recipient, who can then access/download the documents. The link is valid for one-week time. The sender receives notification when all documents have been downloaded by the recipient. The application is free up to 2GB, larger transfer will require the sender to create an account and are subject to a monthly charge.

How to do it (step by step)

Step 1

Go to https://wetransfer.com/ and Click on the free version, you will see this screen:

Click on “add your files”, a pop-up window will appear to allow you to select the files you wish to transfer from your computer

Step 3

Add the email address of the recipient(s), as well as your address

Step 4

Type a personal message if you wish

Step 5

Click “transfer”; the application will send out 2 emails: one to the recipient(s) with the link to download all documents; a second one to the sender to confirm the files have been transferred.
Additional notifications are sent to the sender when the recipient download the files or if she/he has not during the time the link is valid.

 A paid version of Wetransfer exists allowing user to transfer up to 20GB, store 100GB and to password protect the files. “Wetransfer plus” costs about 12€ a month and will require to create a personal account.
