The recipe is aimed at educators who wish to give their students comprehensive and visual feedback.
- Internet connection
- Coggle account (check pricing plans)
- A student’s assignment or specific topic you’d like to give assessment on.
The recipe enables educators to give their students feedback/assessment with flow charts. It is a visual way of sharing ideas on a student’s assignment or progress. Coggle has different pricing schemes, so you can check which plan best fits your needs.
How to do it (step by step)
Go to https://coggle.it and choose Create Diagram.
Give the flow chart a title, for example, How to Assess Creative Writing Assignments.
Right click on the background of the diagram, and click on the + sign to create new items.
Create as many Top Level items as you need, for example “Storyline”, “Character Development”, “Story ending”.
To choose the style of each item, right click on each item.
Choose the color or shape you want for each item.
To connect items with arrows, click the (+) buttons and give them labels.
To join items, create empty items and drag it over the item you want to connect it with.
If you wish to copy and paste the puzzle to a different application, cut out the puzzle.
Continue to add new items and shapes until your flow chart is complete.
You can use different colors to indicate different topics.
Save your Coggle diagram to share with your students.
There is more…
Coggle is also a great way to have your students give their feedback on what they’ve learned. For example, they could use it to visually depict a storyline of a reading comprehension text. Coggle is an easy, free tool to use – however, there are premium plans if you wish to upgrade!
